Let's read the story of Elijah and the Widow and then ask some questions.

Once there was a prophet name Elijah.  He lived during a time when there was no rain and little food in the land.  He didn’t know where his next meal would come from.

So God said, “Go to a stream I know of, and the ravens will bring you food.”  So Elijah went there and ravens brought him food in the morning and in the evening and he got water from the stream.

But eventually the stream went dry because there was no rain.  So God said, “I want you to leave this country and go to a small town near Sidon.  You’ll meet a woman there who will take care of you.”

So Elijah went to the town and saw a woman picking up sticks.  Elijah asked her for some water to drink and also some bread to eat.

The woman said, “I only have enough flour to fit in my hand and a little olive oil.  I was out here picking up sticks to make a fire and cook a final meal for my son and I.  After that, we’ll go hungry.”

Elijah said, “Don’t be afraid.  Go home and cook your food.  But bring me some of the bread first and then make some for you and your son.  God has told me that your container of flour won’t go empty and your pot of oil will always have oil in it.”
