Elijah and the Widow
This unit will look at the story as a series of problems and solutions. It's also a good way to review the story. Tell the student the problem, and then see if they can provide the solution of how the problem was solved in the story.
Thinking about Problems and Solutions in the Story
INTRODUCTION - Elijah announces a drought in the land. So there's not going to be much food.
PROBLEM - Where is Elijah going to get food and water?
PROBLEM - The stream is all dry. Where is Elijah going to get food and water?
Solution - God has a widow feed Elijah
PROBLEM - The widow doesn't have any food.
Solution - God provides food for Elijah and the widow
PROBLEM - The widow's son is very sick.
Solution - God heals the widow's son.

Who solves each of these problems? What does this teach us about how we can solve our problems?
